Nesbizzle
This is a sensitive subject for me. I am a curvy girl. Not like Scarlet Johanson is curvy. More like Chloe Marshall or Bridgette Jones. For the most part I am totally comfortable with my size and have a good amount of confidence. However, sometimes it seems others are not so comfortable with it.
Yesterday MissMelisaMae posted a young gentleman’s online profile. In the first sentence he says, “there is no polite way to say this, no fat chicks so I’ll just say it.” He followed this idiotic statement with a smiley face. So, obviously this man is an utter douchebag, however, that is not what I am writing about. My question is, since when does skinny equal pretty? I mean, obviously it is what is inside that counts but aside from that I want to discuss this skinny= pretty idea. I’ve been wondering this for some time now. I mean, I have noticed this throughout my life. On TV, film and in society. Apparently it is acceptable to be skinny but not necessarily attractive. However, if you are overweight then just stop right there. A woman could be beautiful and for some reason her jelly rolls exclude her from being in the ‘pretty’ category.
We chubby girls often hear, ‘you have such a pretty face’. Thanks, but why isn’t all of me pretty? Are we really so afraid of a little fat? Now, I’m not defending obesity here or anything. Of course it is important to try and take care of oneself but I truly believe that beauty can come in all shapes and sizes. For example, I have two celebrity crushes. 1) Justin Timberlake 2) Seth Rogen. I am capable of finding two men of completely different sizes attractive. I don’t like Seth Rogen simply because he’s funny. I actually think he’s hot. So, what’s up with some (I emphasize this because I realize not all men are like this) men being so closed minded?
In my experience a curvy girl is not everyone’s cup of tea. I don’t really like scrawny guys, we all have our preferences. However, I am highly offended by this, ‘no fat chicks’ statement. As if it’s all that simple. Fat= unattractive. Marilyn Monroe was still a hottie when she hit size 14 so why can’t someone else be? It’s not just this guy either. On Match.com very few men will put that they are interested in a “full figured” woman. Open your minds to the possibility that a plumper woman could be just as attractive if not more so than little miss plain Jane size 2. Open your minds. That’s all I’m asking.
